Currently there is no fiscally responsible party in U.S. politics. There’s plenty of interest in playing the game, check out this neat little press release from Nancy Pelosi just a couple of years ago hammering President Bush for his unbalanced budget.

The glimmer of hope in all of this is for this tea party movement to grow enough to create a third party (not something I expect) or to be a significant enough voice that the current players have to pay attention.

See what you then get from people who find the facts “unimaginable”: almost no debate on the global warming that has actually stopped, the “stolen generations” no one can actually find and the kissy new redeemer Obama who actually sounds just like old George Bush.

He’s OK I guess. Mostly I think of him as just taking up space which makes him better than just about any other politician around.

Or not…

I happen to think things would be better if the federal government would leave to the states the things that should be left to the states, so maybe at some level I sort of agree with him. Mostly I don’t like his jumping on this bandwagon trying to gain some ground in what is likely to be a very difficult reelection for him.

I know hockey fans are supposed to lose interest in the playoffs when our team is eliminated but I guess I’m weird that way. The one advantage to your team being eliminated before it even starts is you can pick a new team each round. So, umm, go Canucks…

And here’s to hoping Modano comes back for another year. or two.

Sometimes completely miss the point…

What I’m looking for is a system where everyone is required to find my behavior acceptable no matter what I do. If I could get them to approve of it to the point where they felt compelled to provide monetary rewards…so much the better.
